To set up a new account in Mac Mail:
- Open the Mac Mail program on your computer.
- Go to Mail, then click Preferences.
- Enter a Full Name. This is the name that people will see when they receive an email from you.
- Enter the full email address for the account you want to configure in the Email Address field.
- Enter the password for the email User Name in the Password field.
- Click Continue. The Incoming Mail server screen appears.
- Select POP3 or IMAP as the incoming email server type. If you want your email downloaded to your device so you can view them when your device is offline select POP3, otherwise select IMAP.
- Fill in the Incoming Mail Server for your plan type using the chart below. Replace example.com with your domain name. Do not include www in the domain name.
Shared Unix, Shared Windows, and Virtual Private Server Plans:
Incoming Mail Server: example.com
Outgoing Mail Server:
POP: example.com
IMAP: example.com
Domain + Starter and Webmail Plans:
Incoming Mail Server: smtp.example.com
Outgoing Mail Server:
POP: smtp.example.com
IMAP: smtp.example.com
Virtual Windows Server Plans:
Incoming Mail Server: mx.example.com
Outgoing Mail Server:
POP: mx.example.com
IMAP: mx.example.com
Hosted Zimbra Plans:
Incoming Mail Server: webmail.va1.emailserver.com
Outgoing Mail Server:
POP: smtp.va1.emailserver.com
IMAP: smtp.va1.emailserver.com
*If you don’t know your plan type, try Shared UNIX and work down through the chart.
- Your email User Name should already be filled in. Customers using Hosted Zimbra should use the full email address as their User Name.
- Click Continue. The Outgoing mail server screen appears.
- Fill in the Outgoing Mail Server for you plan type using the chart above. Click Continue.
- The Outgoing Mail Security Screen appears. Click Continue.
- The Account Summary screen appears. Click Create.
- Update the port settings (POP3 only). Highlight your account under Accounts. Click Advanced. Note: Hosted Zimbra Email Users should refer to the Hosted Zimbra Email Port Settings section below:
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): 587
- Incoming mail (POP3): 110
You will be asked to save when you exit out.
