Step 1: Set Gmail to Send Your Rackspace Hosted Emails
Here’s how to start sending from your hosted email address via Gmail.
- In the upper right hand corner you will see a gear icon
. Click the icon and choose Settings -> Accounts and Import.
- Click Add another email address you own. This will open a pop-up window.
- Enter your name and hosted email address..
- Deselect the Treat as an alias box, (for details click the Learn more link) and ignore the Specify a different "reply-to" address.
- On the next screen, enter secure.emailsrvr.com for the SMTP Server and select Port 465.
- For Username enter your full hosted email address.
- For Password enter the password ConnectWorkz has sent you.
- Finally select the Secured connection using SSL (recommended) button and click Add Account.
Gmail will now check to make sure the credentials you entered are correct and will send an email to verify your account. You can close this popup window.
ConnectWorkz will forward this email to you. Click on the link in the verification email.
Step 2: Testing your Ability to Send
Gmail has already tested your account settings, and if you followed the above instructions, you should be good to go, but just to be certain, you can return to your Gmail inbox and click the COMPOSE button.
In the Dropdown menu marked from choose your hosted email address. Now fire off a test to your GMail account. It should appear in your inbox.
Step 3: Make Your Rackspace Email the Default Sender (Optional)
If you don’t plan to use your @gmail.com account and will most regularly be sending from your hosted email address, you can make it the default sending address.
- In the upper right hand corner you will see a gear icon
. Click the icon and choose Settings -> Accounts and Import.
- In the row marked Send mail as: you will see both your @gmail.com email and your ConnectWorkz email address.
- Next to your ConnectWorkz email address click the make default link. The change will happen on the page and be made immediately.
Step 4: Set Gmail to Receive Your Rackspace Email
Next we need to make sure your hosted emails will be received by Gmail.
- In the upper right hand corner you will see a gear icon
. Click the icon and choose Settings -> Accounts and Import.
- In the row marked Check mail using POP3 click the Add a POP3 mail account you own link.
This will open a new window.
- In the new pop-up window enter your full hosted email address (e.g. myname@mydomain.com) and move to the Next Step.
- For the next window enter the following settings:
- Username: myname@mydomain.com
- Password: Your ConnectWorkz password
- POP Server: secure.emailsrvr.com
- Port: 995
- Check the box marked Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.
- Click the Add Account button.
The pop-up window will close automatically and Gmail will begin checking for any emails recently sent to myname@mydomain.com. Now when you return to your Gmail inbox you will see any emails sent to your hosted email account.
